What a year it has been! 2018 has been a very busy, but rewarding year for KU Resources. We started off with the addition of four new shareholders of the company, Sara Covolo, Kenneth Krupowicz, Stephen Pesch, and Kate Sinkus, and we are pleased to have them aboard. Not only have we gained additional shareholders, but we have also gained a few new employees this year! Jacob Catt, EIT, joined us in April as a Senior Project Engineer, Anthony Deluca, a Geologist, started in November and Ronald Carrola, PE, a Project Manager, also joined KU in November. Additionally, Daniel Kerschner will be starting in December as a full-time Geologist. We are excited to have each of them as part of our team and look forward to the work that they will complete in the future.
In May, we expanded our headquarters in Duquesne by adding an additional 5,000 square feet. This space created 4 new offices, 6 workstations along with additional garage space for equipment.
In August, KU Resources acquired R.F Mitall and Associates, an engineering firm located in Plum Borough. With this merger, came a new division, a new office, and 13 additional employees. The Mitall Division of KU Resources offers municipal engineering, land surveying services, in addition to increasing our land development civil engineering capabilities.
In November, KU Resources was announced as one of The Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania! We’d like to give a huge THANKS to our employees for making this happen year after year!
We wish everyone a happy holiday season and prosperous new year. We look forward to working with you in 2019 and are enthusiastic for what the new year will bring!
KU Resources prides itself on having a culture to develop and promote from within. The alphabetical list of the 100 companies in Pennsylvania to win a designation as a “Best Place to Work” has been revealed. This year’s list represents 23,000 employees of 44 small, 27 medium and 29 large sized companies. In order to be eligible for this process, companies had to be a for-profit or non-profit business, be publicly or privately held, employ at least 15 people working in Pennsylvania and be in business for at least one year. Making this list is a prestigious honor and winners improve their visibility and appeal to jobseekers from around the globe by carrying a trusted stamp of approval as a “Best Places to Work in PA” company.
Companies began the application process in March of this year. Once registered, a survey was administered to both employees and employers at hundreds of companies across our commonwealth. Winners are chosen based on who receives the highest combined scores in a twofold evaluation: a review of a company’s workforce policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics and results of an employee survey measuring employee satisfaction. Using a formula similar to Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” the Best Companies Group surveys and scores the workplace and each candidate is given an overall score.
“This is one of our favorite times of the year, when we learn which 100 Pennsylvania companies are the best in our Commonwealth,” said Ryan C. Unger, President and CEO at Team Pennsylvania. “It is a great opportunity to work with the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development and the Central Penn Business Journal to acknowledge the leaders and people that propel Pennsylvania’s outstanding workforce.”
