New Employees
KU Resources is pleased to announce the hiring of the following employees:
Don Blackert
Mr. Blackert joined KU Resources as a Senior Project Geologist and Manager of our Washington office. He is a geologist
with 28 years of professional experience including 24 years of environmental consulting
specializing in in-situ soil and groundwater treatment technologies. He also provides ongoing management and
coordination of plant dismantling, remediation, and divestiture for active and legacy properties throughout the United
States, Canada, Europe, and South America for major chemicals and plastics manufacturers. Mr. Blackert has successfully
used a variety of remedial technologies to clean and close numerous sites at industrial facilities. He routinely provides
management, design, and implementation of remedial technologies including air sparging, free phase product removal,
landfarming, bioremediation/bio-stimulation, soil venting and vapor extraction, as well as management and technical
support of RI/FS activities and expert witness/litigation support. Mr. Blackert is the lead technologist and project
manager for the development and implementation of an innovative aerobic co-metabolism process that has been
successfully used for remediation and closure of several chlorinated hydrocarbon contaminated sites.
Raymond Orloski
Mr. Orloski joined KU Resources as a Senior Project Geologist, with over 16 years of diverse and successful project
management and professional experience. Mr. Orloski has extensive experience in environmental assessments, remedial
activities, subsurface investigations, building demolition, and underground storage tank removal projects.
David King
Mr. King joined KU Resources as a Project Manager. He has more than 30 years of experience in the environmental
field. His broad environmental experience includes managing and conducting investigations, corrective action projects,
assessments, groundwater monitoring programs, permit applications and compliance audits under RCRA, CERCLA, and other
federal and state regulatory programs.
Karl Hewes
Mr. Hewes joined the civil and geotechnical engineering team. He has over 10 years of geotechnical experience in
conducting site assessments and solving challenging geotechnical problems for clients. He also has extensive field
experience including conducting, testing, and analyzing soil samples and other materials. Mr. Hewes will be assisting
the Duquesne office as an experienced project engineer and manager.
