State Voluntary Cleanup Programs

KU Resources continues to keep abreast of the voluntary cleanup programs currently in place in most states. Our staff is certified under Pennsylvania’s, West Virginia’s, and Ohio’s voluntary cleanup programs. KU Resources offers a wide range of services to aid property owners with remediating their contaminated site. For each project, we are committed to helping clients achieve cost-effective solutions, while addressing all risks associated with the project. In addition, we strive to reduce or remove the need for expensive remediation equipment and long-term monitoring requirements.

KU Resources is a “solution oriented” firm that strives to achieve the most efficient closure method. In the best interest of our client, we perform the necessary technical work required to meet site environmental closure requirements. Our work can range from preliminary real estate transaction screening procedures to environmental site assessments to remedy implementation and associated state cleanup program document submittals. By using this project approach, we have significantly lowered remediation costs to property owners, thereby increasing the value of properties with the potential for redevelopment.

Having completed numerous projects, we have developed an understanding of the regulatory and technical implications surrounding each state’s voluntary cleanup program. KU Resources has experience in the following state voluntary cleanup programs:

  • Pennsylvania’s Act 2 Land Recycling Program
  • Connecticut’s Voluntary Cleanup Program
  • Maryland’s Voluntary Cleanup Program
  • Ohio’s Voluntary Action Plan
  • Virginia’s Voluntary Remediation Program
  • West Virginia’s Voluntary Remediation and Redevelopment Act and Voluntary Remediation Program

Brownfield redevelopment has been the primary focus of KU Resources since its inception in the mid-1990s. Through this experience, we have built strong working relationships with various State regulators and redevelopment authorities and have a proven track record of securing government funding for clients, where available.
