System-Wide Battery Recycling Programs of Various Railroads
Challenge: Small amounts of wastes at widely dispersed geographical locations.
Solutions: System-wide battery recycling programs under long-term contracts. These projects require regularly scheduled visits two to three times per year in milk-run fashion to over 300 rail yards throughout the United States. At each site, project personnel inventory the waste batteries; package the batteries into reusable totes; prepare shipping documentation, label and load each tote; and then transport the batteries to the appropriate recycling facility.
Result: Our railroad clients satisfy the universal waste rules while having batteries removed on a regular basis from rail yards all over the United States.
