KU Resources, Inc. was formed in January 1997 to provide environmental management consulting. Our founding Principals, David R. Kerschner and Mark R. Urbassik, believed that lowering the overall cost structure and offering timely, customized solutions for our clients would provide a practical business philosophy.
Armed with this philosophy, we experienced periods of rapid growth from 1997 through 2000. Throughout this period, our workforce doubled in size each year to efficiently respond to rising demand.
Expansion Leads to New Office Location
In 1999, we established our Akron office. This satellite office was designed to expand business in Ohio, while maintaining our overall business philosophy. Our Akron personnel specialize in geology and hydrogeology, subsurface assessment and remediation, environmental management, and regulatory compliance. Over the years, our personnel have conducted environmental investigations and hydrogeological studies for many industrial, municipal, and commercial clients and have expanded our experience in water resources, soil and groundwater investigation, and soil and groundwater remediation methodologies.
Diversifying Services
Our company seized the opportunity in October of 2003, to enter the civil and geotechnical engineering sectors. Our engineering program was developed to include services such as site development engineering, water resources engineering, mining and quarry services, solid waste management, water quality monitoring, forensic engineering, and litigation support. Our Principals believed that by diversifying our services, we would maximize the overall value to our clients.
In January 2004, we capitalized on another opportunity to amplify our value by entering the air quality compliance industry. This program was designed to offer permitting, technology determination, software recordkeeping systems, compliance audits, regulatory agency negotiations, annual emissions, and problem resolution services.
Branching Out
In 2006, our company expanded our services geographically and capitalized on an opportunity to open a Green Bay, Wisconsin office. Typical services provided at our Green Bay office include field construction management, sub-grade soil and concrete testing, nuclear density testing, slurry wall construction, underground/aboveground storage tanks removals and installations, field soil and groundwater sampling, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, soil and bedrock drilling procedures, sample collection, and railroad battery well removal.
With expansions in the workforce, services, clients, and projects, we moved our headquarters to our current location in June 2004. In January 2007, we completed an expansion and added 5,000 square feet to the existing building.
In August 2008, we opened another office in Washington, Pennsylvania to further increase the value of service to our clients. Focusing on management and coordination of plant dismantling, remediation, and divestiture for major chemicals and plastics manufacturers, our Washington personnel provides services in the United States, Canada, Europe, and South America. Remedial technologies often include air sparging, free-phase product removal, landfarming, bioremediation/bio-stimulation, soil venting, and vapor extraction.
A New Division
We acquired Hannigan Engineering Associates as a new division of our company in October 2008. This venture provides our clients with enhanced capabilities in various civil engineering services including geotechnical investigations for residential/commercial developments, foundation design, landslide remediation, and retaining wall design.
